Acatability Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 October 2026

Acatability is a journaling app you can keep on your own or share in a pact with up to four friends. It is made and run by Qurek Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (“we”, “us”). This page explains what the app stores, where it’s kept, who can see it, and how to delete it.

If you have a question, or want to use any of the rights below, email info@qurek.biz.

The short version

What we collect

Data What it is Why
Name The name Apple or Google gives us when you sign in. If you sign in with Apple and don’t share it, we don’t have it. So the others in your pact know who you are
Email address The email Apple or Google gives us. If you sign in with Apple and choose “Hide My Email”, this is a private relay address from Apple, not your real one. Your account login
User ID A random ID that we create for your account, plus the ID that Sign in with Apple or Google uses To tell your data apart from everyone else’s
Journal entries For each day: your journal text, your intention for the day, which of the cat’s journal questions you answered, if you chose one, your gratitude items, journal and meditation minutes, and your sharing choices for that day This is the app
Settings Cat colour, journaling goal, sharing preference, preferred journaling time, and your device’s time zone To set up the app for you and to know when your day starts and ends
Pact membership Which pact you’re in, who set it up, when you joined, and any invite codes you create or use To connect you with the others in your pact, and to know who can invite
Purchase history If you buy a subscription or the Founding Pact: the purchase’s transaction ID, its type (monthly, yearly or Founding Pact), its status (for example active, expired or refunded), when it expires or was refunded, and whether it was a test purchase. We get this from Apple, never from your card. To know whether your pact’s shared features are on, and how many people you can invite
Push token If you allow notifications: a code Apple gives your device so we can send it a notification, and whether it’s a test build To tell you when a friend in your pact checks in
Friend notification settings and record Whether “When a friend checks in” is on, and on which days you sent or were sent a friend notification So you can turn them off, and so nobody gets more than one a day
Friend nudges you sent When you nudge a friend in your pact yourself: who you nudged and on which day So you can nudge each friend at most once a day. If the friend then checks in, your cat tells you, and theirs tells them you nudged (that day only)
Paws you sent and received When someone in your pact sends a paw: who sent it, who got it, and on which day To show you today’s paws, and so each friend can send you at most one a day
Together days The days your pact’s day counted while you were in it. Only yours: it doesn’t say who else checked in, or who didn’t So your together gifts stay on your shelf, even after you or a friend leave the pact. Deleted with your account
Pact news record When someone leaves your pact or is removed from it: who it was (their name at the time), who did it, who in the pact was told, and when So the others hear once that someone left, and nobody is told twice
Apple sign-in token A token from Apple, kept only on our server and never readable by the app So we can cancel your Sign in with Apple link when you delete your account, as Apple requires

We use all of this only to run the app. None of it is used for tracking or advertising, sold, or shared with data brokers.

Your data is linked to your account, because a journal that isn’t linked to you would be of no use to you.

What stays on your phone or iPad

Drafts you haven’t saved yet are kept only on your device until they’re uploaded. Your login session is stored in the iOS Keychain. Your reminder settings (on or off, and what time) and the reminders your cat has scheduled are kept only on your device. So are whether memories are on, which recaps you’ve opened, and what your cat has already said to you, and your last check-in’s sharing choices and minutes, so the next one can start from them. The times you checked in over the last two weeks stay on your device too, so your cat can offer to move its hello closer to when you usually come. We never see them.

If you add the Acatability widget to your home screen, it shows your cat, your cat’s name and whether you’ve checked in today. The app hands it these from your phone’s own storage; nothing is sent anywhere for it. Anyone who can see your home screen can see the widget, so remove it if you’d rather keep your cat’s name to yourself.

Where it’s stored

Your account and entries are stored with Supabase, our database provider, on servers in London, United Kingdom (AWS eu-west-2). Data is encrypted when it’s sent to and from the app, and access is locked down so that each account can read only what it is allowed to read.

Sign-in is handled by Apple (Sign in with Apple) or Google (Sign in with Google), whichever you choose. Google gives us only your name, email address and Google account ID. If you buy anything, payment is handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your card details. When you buy, the app gives Apple your random account ID so the purchase is tied to your Acatability account, and our server then asks Apple for the purchase’s details. Apple also tells our server when a subscription renews, ends or is refunded.

If you allow notifications, friend notifications are delivered by Apple (Apple Push Notification service). Apple receives your phone’s push token and the notification’s words: the name of the friend who checked in and the name of that friend’s cat. When you check in, the same goes for your name and your cat’s name. Daily reminders never leave your phone.

Supabase, Apple and (if you sign in with Google) Google process data for us. We don’t share your data with anyone else, unless the law requires us to.

Who can see what

Friend notifications. When you check in, others in your pact who allowed notifications may get one saying so, for example “Maya checked in” and “Meow! Mochi is purring next to Maya. Want to join?”. That’s the one way someone can learn you’ve checked in before they have themselves. It names you and your cat and nothing else: never your journal text, gratitude items, minutes or anything you shared. Nobody gets one before 8am or after 9pm in their own time zone, or more than once a day, or after they’ve checked in themselves.

If you leave a pact, or the person who pays removes you, the others who allow friend notifications get one quiet line saying so, for example “Meow! Maya left the pact.” It says nothing else about you.

If you turn sharing off for an entry, or delete it, the others stop seeing it. If you leave a pact, or the person who pays removes you, the others stop seeing everything you had shared with it.

Notifications

Acatability doesn’t send notifications until you say yes. There are five kinds:

Turn any of them off in the app under Settings → Reminders, or turn all of them off in iPhone Settings → Notifications → Acatability. None of them is used for marketing.

How long we keep it

We keep your data until you delete it or delete your account. Unused invite codes expire after 7 days. A push token is deleted when you sign out, when someone else signs in on that phone, or when Apple tells us it no longer works (for example after you delete the app). Purchase records are kept for as long as your account exists, because a subscription or Founding Pact can still count after a long gap. A pact news record is deleted 30 days after someone leaves.

Deleting your account

In the app, go to Settings → Delete account. This immediately and permanently deletes:

If you left a pact or were removed from one in the 30 days before, the record that the others were told (with your name as it was) stays until those 30 days are up.

It can’t be undone. Copies in our database provider’s backups are replaced automatically within 30 days.

You can also email info@qurek.biz and ask us to delete your account for you.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR), you have the right to ask for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to take it elsewhere. Email info@qurek.biz and we will answer within one month.

We rely on performing our contract with you (providing the app you signed up for) as the legal basis for using your data.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Children

Acatability is not meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect data from them. If you think a child has made an account, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top. If the change matters, such as collecting something new, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
